Sharm to Brother Islands
A 6-day/7-night liveaboard safari starting and ending in Sharm El Sheikh – the Best of Wrecks, Reefs & Marine Life
This liveaboard route offers a perfect balance of iconic wreck dives, vibrant reefs, and open-ocean encounters. Exploring some of the most famous dive sites in the northern Red Sea, the itinerary includes a visit to the Brother Islands, an exclusive liveaboard destination known for dramatic walls and regular shark sightings.
Aboard our comfortable, fast and stable South Moon 1, we sail along the Red Sea coast and select the best dive sites depending on sea and weather conditions. Planned highlights include selected dive sites around Safaga such as the Salem Express, the reefs of the Giftun Islands, classic wreck dives at Abu Nuhas, the legendary SS Thistlegorm, the spectacular reefs of Ras Mohamed National Park and, last but not least, the Brother Islands.
The Dive Sites:
Gubal Islands
The Gubal Islands offer varied and relaxed diving, with healthy reefs, sandy patches, and rich marine life. Highlights include an eel garden, vibrant reef fish, and the wreck of the Ulysses, which lies at accessible depths and allows easy penetration. Nearby sites such as Bluff Point are also well known for atmospheric night dives.
Brother Islands
Rising steeply from deep water, Big Brother and Small Brother are famous for their dramatic walls covered in soft corals and gorgonians. Strong currents attract large schools of fish, including jacks, tuna, and barracudas, as well as several species of oceanic sharks. On Big Brother, the wrecks of the Aida and Numidia add depth and history to this exceptional dive area.
Salem Express
The Salem Express is a powerful and moving wreck dive. The former passenger ferry sank in 1991 and now rests on the seabed as a largely intact site. Diving here is done with respect, offering a quiet and reflective experience.
Abu Nuhas
Often called the “Ship Graveyard,” Abu Nuhas is home to several classic wrecks lying close together. Vessels such as the Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K, and Kimon M are beautifully encrusted with hard and soft corals, making this area ideal for exploration and underwater photography.
SS Thistlegorm
One of the most famous wreck dives in the world, the SS Thistlegorm is a remarkable underwater time capsule from World War II. Resting at around 30 meters, the wreck is easily accessible and offers unforgettable penetration dives through cargo holds filled with historic vehicles and equipment.
Ras Mohamed National Park
At the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, Ras Mohamed is renowned for its rich marine life and dramatic reef structures. Strong currents bring nutrient-rich waters, supporting dense schools of fish and frequent pelagic encounters, making it a fitting highlight on this diverse safari route.
